The applicability of laser heating for melting point measurement of nitrides was discussed. To determine the melting point, thermal radiations with narrow- and broad-bands were simultaneously detected by pyrometer and spectrometer, respectively. The nitride samples were (Dy,Zr)N pellets, and Dy was a surrogate for minor actinides.
