The effects of Zr4+ ion on the behavior of reductive extraction of Zr and Ce in liquid Cd was investigated in LiCl-KCl melt containing ZrCl4 and CeCl3. Separation factor of Zr based on Ce was evaluated. During reductive extraction tests, a phenomenon, alumina crucible covered by Cd alloy, was observed and its mechanism was discussed.
