[1O06] Nuclear-Biomass Hybrid System 2 for Electricity Demand Fluctuation

Necessity of flexibility in Future Deregulated Electricity Market

*Hoseok Nam1, Keisuke Mukai1, Satoshi Konishi1 (1. Kyoto University)

Keywords:Deregulated Electricity Market, Carbon sequestration, Carbon market, Nuclear, Biomass

In the future, deregulated electricity market will appear with the acceleration of renewables distribution. Deregulated electricity market shows negative marginal price based on liberal capitalism principle. Hence, it is necessary to operate the nuclear power plant flexibly coping with demand fluctuation. During the time of negative marginal price, biochar (fixed carbon) production utilizing waste biomass brings profit from carbon market by achieving carbon sequestration.
