Accident tolerant fuels (ATFs) for BWRs, such as SiC and FeCrAl-ODS, are being developed in the national project. Severe accident analysis results with accident managements, especially, about time margin for depressurizing the reactor, and an amount of the injection flow rate for the core to prevent core damage, will be introduced. (This study is the result of “Development of Technical Basis for Introducing Advanced Fuels Contributing to Safety Improvement of Current Light Water Reactors” carried out under the Project on Development of Technical Basis for Improving Nuclear Safety by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan.)
