High-level radioactive liquid waste contains Pd (Ⅱ) which interferes with the vitrification process, and it is necessary to separate it. Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) has a character of hydrophilicity / hydrophobicity change at the lower limit critical temperature. It was found that metal ions in aqueous solution can be separated by hydrophobic interaction between ligand and PNIPAAm with only temperature change. In this study, using a hydrophobic thiourea derivative as a ligand, a basic study for Pd (Ⅱ) separation by PNIPAAm was conducted.
