[2O_PL01] Nuclear Energy in Poland
Aiming for reducing their energy dependency on the coal-fired plants, newly introduction of nuclear power has been planned in Poland. High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR) which can provide electricity and heat is under consideration as the candidate of nuclear plant, in addition to Light Water Reactor. For the HTGR deployment in Poland, construction of a research reactor in 2020s and a commercial reactor in 2030s is being discussed. Currently, the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) in the Republic of Poland have been proceeding with their research corporation in the field of HTGR technologies. In this lecture, the outlines of energy situation in Poland, the status of nuclear deployment, and research cooperation between JAEA and NCBJ will be provided.
