Kanazawa University has developed an analysis method to separate and refine radioactive strontium in seawater by phosphate precipitation separation and solid-phase extraction disk and to measure the radioactive strontium by liquid scintillation counter. Furthermore Tokyo power Technology Ltd cooperated with Kanazawa University on the applicable conditions of analytical methods that can discriminate and quantitate contaminated water including great amount of Sr-89 emitted by emission sources more rapidly and easily, arranging an emergency situation at a nuclear power facility. As a result, we were able to discriminate and quantitate Sr-89 and Sr-90 within 3 days. We will report the results.
