Analyses of Fukushima severe accident by SAMPSON code have shown nearly no
temperature increase of lower head wall after relocation of molten core
materials into lower head. Therefore, the heat transfer models between
debris and lower head wall have been verified through simulation of SONATA
experiment resulting in notable improvement of these models under
conditions without the effect of gap cooling phenomenon. The present study
is performed to take into account the gap cooling effect observed in
SONATA experiment to improve SAMPSON debris to lower head wall heat
transfer models under in-vessel cooling conditions.
