NaとRuを含む仮焼物とガラスを、接触状態を変えながら加熱して生成物を観察した。仮焼物とガラスの接触面積が小さい場合にはRuO₂は針状結晶となったが、接触面積が大きい場合には微粉末または不定形となった。
