In case of accident in The Very High Temperature Reactor hydrogen production system, toxic gas may leak into the atmosphere and contaminate surrounding areas. Toxic gases have the danger of affecting workers and surrounding of chemical plants. Installation of an obstacle is considered effective in order to prevent the transfer of toxic gases and it is required to verify the effect. The present study aims to clarify the airflow behavior around an obstacle and the diffusion effect of toxic gases by it using STAR-CCM+, which is a numerical analysis software. As a result, air flow properties and advection and diffusion behavior of heavy gas around an obstacle was confirmed.
