Differential scanning calorimetry was used to study the chemical reaction between the uranium dioxide pellet and the graphite block. The result showed that there was no reaction between the uranium dioxide pellet and the graphite block in the maximum temperature 1,200 deg C and the maximum oxygen concentration 10ppm. Therefore we consider that the graphite blocks wouldn't be thinned if they could contact with the fuel materials in the safety vessel of the experimental fast reactor JOYO.
