The purpose of this study is to develop an environmental-friendly and low-cost technique for segmentation of used control rods. The volume reduction of the control rod is performed underwater while preventing B4C powder scattering. The results showed that this technique has a low scattering of B4C powder (0.07%), and a high storage efficiency (50control-rods).
