To establish basic technology for new type of fuel which contributes to enhancement of LWR safety, under commission of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, we have performed research and development of new type of fuel with enhanced accident-tolerance to introduce into current LWRs since 2015. In this presentation, current status of the R&D of the SiC composite material for PWR is presented.
