Cd2+ and Zr4+ ions are contained in a molten LiCl-KCl melt at a reductive extraction process of a pyroprocessing of spent nitride fuel. In this study, the effect of Zr4+ ion on the behavior of reductive extraction of lanthanides in liquid Cd was investigated. Based on quantitative analysis of Cd alloy and molten salt, the separation factor of Zr was evaluated. In addition, the electrolytic recovery of Zr and Cd was proposed as the pretreatment process of reductive extraction to prevent the Cd alloy coating of the crucible.
