[2L03] Application of infrared absorption spectroscopy to the exhaust gas analysis of fusion test device
Keywords:Fusion test device, Exhaust gas analysis, Hydrocarbons, Infrared absorption spectroscopy
The observation of gas species in the exhaust gas from fusion test device could be revealed the behavior and the inventory of hydrogen isotopes. When the deuterium plasma experiment was conducted by a fusion test device, a small amount of tritium was produced by DD reaction. Then, the tritiated hydrocarbons was observed in the exhaust gas. On the other hands, species of hydrocarbons were not detected by a gas chromatography. Thus, the infrared absorption spectroscopy using the long optical path gas cell was attempted to observe extremely low-level hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas from a fusion test device. As a result, methane, ethane and ethylene were detected and it was qualitatively consistent with the observation results of tracer tritium.
