[2M02] Target mass dependence of photo-neutron production with 17 MeV linearly polarized photons
Keywords:photo-neutron, polarized photon, time-of-flight, neutron spectrum, double differential cross section
Neutron production of photo-nuclear reaction is an essential process for studying dosimetry and shielding design of an electron accelerator. To reveal atomic mass dependence of the neutron production, we took experimental data of neutron spectrum for various atomic mass targets. In the experiment, we prepared 17 MeV mono-energetic polarized photons by using Laser Compton Scattering in NewSUBARU-BL01 facility and six natural element targets of Ti, Fe, Cu, Sn, Au, and Pb. Neutron detector of liquid organic scintillator was placed at 90 degrees with respect to the photon beam axis, 59 cm away from the target. Pulse shape discrimination is used to separate neutron and gamma. The time of flight spectroscopy was set up to obtain neutron energy spectrum. PHITS simulation was performed to compare its results and the experimental data. The experimental results on target mass dependence will be present at the meeting.
