Technetium 99m is one of the most important radioisotopes used in nuclear medicine for common diagnostic imaging technology, such as single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). The current supply chain of 99mTc is highly dependent on fission-produced 99Mo. We have studied an alternative production route for 99Mo with high-specific activity via a 96Zr(α,n)99Mo reaction without a reactor. In this conferece, we will report the results for the recently conducting experiments on the neutron production and activation of Zr by using α beam from the NIRS cyclrotorn.
