[1C17] Technical options of radioactive waste management for the second half of the 21st Century, in consideration of Pu utilization and less environmentally impacted geological disposal

(9)Effect of waste loading of vitrified waste on the load reduction of geological repository

*Hidekazu Asano1,2, Masahiro Kawakubo1, Tomohiro Okamura2, Eriko Minari2, Masahiko Nakase2, Kenji Takeshita2, Yaohiro Inagaki3, Yuichi Niibori4, Seichi Sato5 (1. Radioactive Waste Management Funding and Research Center, 2. Tokyo Institute of Technology, 3. Kyushu University, 4. Tohoku University, 5. Professor Emeritus, Hokkaido University )

Keywords:radioactive waste management, nuclear fuel cycle, nuclide separation, vitrification, waste loading, geological disposal

Following our series presentations of (1) to (6) at the 2018 spring meeting, in this paper, the relationship between the reduction of waste occupied area and concentration of Mo and PGM in response to changes in the fuel cycle conditions including nuclides separation will be investigated. And technical feasibility of Mo/PGM separation and vitrification process when it is introduced will be discussed.
