Zirconia membrane type Fe/Fe3O4 electrode as electrochemical corrosion potential (ECP) sensor (Fe sensor) for boiling water reactors (BWRs) has been developed to evaluate the effectiveness of some corrosion mitigation techniques such as hydrogen water chemistry and noble metal chemical addition in reactor pressure vessel. Both the performance and durability were confirmed by potential (generated voltage) measurements in high purity 553 K water using a high temperature water loop system. It was confirmed that the difference between the theoretical potential and actual generated potential of Fe sensor was less than 20 mV, and that potential was stable within ±50 mV for about 10 months.
