As bacterial spores show high registance against various cell-killing stresses, efficient decontamination methods are required. In this study, heat- or gamma-ray-treated Bacillus subtilis spores were analyzed for distinguish the cell-killing mechanism based on the change of germinaion and outgrowth pattern during the recovery of the cells.
