[2B_PL02] Nuclear Energy in Canada
Technology for radioactive waste disposal
Canada has presented new development strategy for advanced nuclear reactors in recent years. A stakeholder-driven roadmap identifying the opportunities for on and off-grid applications of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in Canada was published last November. Meanwhile, the endeavours for radioactive waste disposal have proceeded steadily. In this session, a speaker introduces the policy in Canada for energy and environment, nuclear sectors, and the SMRs roadmap. Also, a speaker from private enterprise, which develops technology for the radioactive waste disposal, presents technical trend of the technology and its applicability to waste disposal for Fukushima-Daiichi-Nuclear Power Plant.
