In order to contribute to research on the influence of projectile impact on structural components of nuclear facilities, our study aims to investigate the properties of shock waves propagated through them and elucidate their impact response behavior. We conducted an impact response analysis on reinforced concrete (RC) structures subjected to projectile impact and compared the results with existing experimental data to confirm the validity of a three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model and numerical evaluation method. Then, the impact response of RC structures of a nuclear facility, such as its walls, was analyzed numerically using the validated 3D FE model and numerical evaluation method. In this study, the influence of varying stiffness of projectile on the impact response behavior of RC structures was analyzed, the conclusions of which are presented herein.
