燃焼度 64 GWd/t のM5TM被覆MOX 燃料を対象とした反応度事故模擬実験を原子炉安全性研究炉で実施した。その結果、同実験に供した実験燃料棒の破損形態は、これまで高燃焼度軽水炉燃料で見られたPCMI破損とは異なる高温破裂型であった可能性が大きい。
