Specimens of W and reduced activation ferritic/martensitic (RAFM) steels containing radiation-induced defects were exposed to tritium gas. Then, long-term tritium release at room temperature was examined. Significant release of tritium from irradiated RAFM steel was observed even at room temperature, while release from irradiated W was not visible. The release mechanism will be discussed.
