[3I03] Evaluation of the Removal Properties of Organic Iodide by an AgNO3 Solution
Keywords:Filtered containment venting system , Organic iodide, Decontamination factor
When an excess pressure and temperature are added to a containment vessel (CV) of a nuclear power plant (NPP) during a severe accident, damage of the CV, the release of radioactive materials into the environment assumed to be possible. Filtered containment venting systems (FCVS) installed in the exhaust systems reduce the release of the radioactive materials by the multi-scrubbers (venturi-scrubber, wet scrubbing, static mixer, metal-fiber filter and molecular sieve) which differ in removal property. Several type of alkaline solution and molecular sieve are used as removal materials of organic iodide (CH3I). This paper evaluates removal properties of I2 and CH3I by AgNO3 solution in low temperature (~ 25 oC), ambient pressure condition.
