[1A12] Synthesis of CsFeO2 by powder synthesis method

CsFeO2 could be formed by the chemisorption of Cs on stainless steel during a light water reactor severe accident. In order to elucidate the chemisorption behavior, it is necessary to examine chemical properties of CsFeO2. Therefore, in this study, the synthesis condition of CsFeO2 was investigated to prepare a pure sample. It was found from X-ray diffraction analysis that almost single phase CsFeO2 sample was able to be obtained by heating a mixed powder of cesium hydroxide monohydrate and α-iron oxyhydroxide.
