[1H03] Possibility of Small Sodium Cooled Breed and Burn Fast Reactor with Rotational Fuel Shuffling
Keywords:Breed and burn reactor, Thermal-hydraulic analysis, Burnup analysis, SMR, Sodium coolant
Previous studies showed that LBE cooled Breed and Burn Reactor concept with the use of a rotational fuel shuffling pattern could be feasible. The purpose of the study was to show the possibility of small size sodium cooled Breed and Burn Fast Reactor with rotational fuel shuffling. The minimum fuel pin pitch was estimated with Comsol Multiphysics while the Reactor's burnup performance was analyzed with MVP 3.0 code. The analysis results showed that sodium allowed for a smaller pin pitch which reduced the reactor’s radius while maintaining its ability to reach and maintain criticality while staying within the structural materials’ temperature safety limits.
