High-level radioactive liquid wastes are vitrificated in a glass melter. For design and development of vitrification melter, understanding the behavior of platinum group particle by using numerical simulation is important. The DEM-CFD method is one of the standard numerical simulation methods for the solid-liquid flow. However, industrial applications of DEM-CFD method are still restricted because the number of calculated particles is not sufficiently large. To solve this problem, the coarse grain model, which is a scaling model of solid particles, were developed. However, the coarse grain model has not been applied to solid-liquid flow. In present study, the coarse grain model and the thermal calculation are applied to solid-liquid flow and verification tests are performed.
