Liquid breeder blanket systems of fusion reactors are being developed. In the case of leak accident of liquid breeders, it is postulated that the leaked liquid breeders contacts with the concrete materials. The purpose of the present study is to investigate chemical interaction between concrete and liquid breeder materials. Concrete was immersed in liquid metals (i.e., Pb-17Li, Pb, Sn, etc.) at 500℃ for 250 hours in Ar atmosphere. The cement specimen immersed in liquid Pb-17Li turned into fragile powder due to the chemical interaction. The cement specimens having different percentage of water were immersed in the liquid metals. The results indicated larger liquid metal penetration was caused in cement materials with higher water percentage.
