(1)Evaluation of mass transfer coefficient and corrosion rate under solid-liquid multiphase flow
Keywords:solid-liquid multiphase flow
We focus on the relationship between corrosion rate of carbon steel and oxygen flux in solid-liquid multiphase flow. First, the mass transfer coefficient was measured under multiphase flow using a rotating cylinder electrode (RCE). In this experiments mass transfer was promoted by the addition of solid particles. Next, corrosion tests were performed under single-phase and multiphase flow while controlling the oxygen flux using RCE. In the single-phase flow, the maximum corrosion rate showed a convex relationship with the oxygen flux. This is thought to be because the carbon steel is passivated when the oxidant flux exceeds the passivating limit current density. Under the multiphase flow, the corrosion rates were larger than the trend obtained under the single-phase flow.
