For storage of high-level waste (fuel debris, etc.), it is desirable to store it in a sealed container due to its large amount of radioactivity. Considering the possibility of long storage period, it is appropriate to use a welded stainless steel canister for the sealed container, but there is a problem of SCC of stainless steel due to sea salt particles in the storage environment in Japan. Therefore, as a measure against SCC, we investigated the concept of a system for long-term storage of high-level waste using a double canister with a secondary canister made of carbon steel.
