For the retrieval of the fuel debris from Fukushima reactors, it is important to predict the spatial status distribution inside the solidified fuel debris, with the understanding of the complicated Molten Core Concrete Interaction (MCCI). In the meantime, a MCCI experiment VULCANO VF-U1 exhibited locally distributed solidification of metallic corium phase, which is not in accordance with the preceding assumption of stratified corium phases. Thus, this study aims to analyze the flow dynamics and solidification process of metallic corium phase in VULCANO VF-U1 experiment, utilizing the Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) method, which is intrinsically advantageous to handle the complex surfaces dynamics involving transfer of thermal-hydraulics property. This presentation especially focuses on reporting the solidification behavior of corium phases.
