This study is interdisciplinary research between nuclear engineering and biomedical optics fields to contribute to the development of Diffuse Optical Tomography (DOT), which is a bioimaging technique using near-infrared light. The photon transport in the biological tissue volumes can be predicted based on the radiative transfer equation (RTE). Note that fast and accurate computing of RTE is difficult because RTE is a multivariable integro-differential equation. The neutron transport equation in the reactor physics can be regarded as a kind of RTE, and efficient numerical analysis methods have been actively researched. Therefore, in this study, photon transport analyses using the neutron transport calculation method was carried out for a multidimensional geometry assuming biological tissues to investigate its applicability.
