Keywords:photonic crystal, sensors, nanoparticles, uranyl ions

We have developed various photonic crystal-based metal ion sensors capable of colorimetric analysis due to the reflection of a specific wavelength. In this study, we realized the synthesis of a novel core-shell photonic crystal polymer composed by polystyrene core and acrylamide polymer shell nanoparticles and pyrrolidone moieties, and proved the sensing performance for uranyl ions in aqueous solutions.
