[3D03] Study on Ac-225 radiopharmaceutical production from Ra-226 by an electron LINAC
(1)Development of Ra-226 target and evaluation of Ac-225 yield

Targeted Alpha Therapy (TAT) is getting considered as one of the important routes for cancer therapy. In TAT, alpha-emitting radioisotopes are combined with cancer-specific targeting vectors and delivered directly to the target cells where high cytotoxic alpha-rays are applied to nearby cells. Ac-225 (t1/2 = 10 d) is one of the promising candidates for TAT but the current distribution based on separation from Th-229 is very limited and not enough to meet clinical needs. Therefore alternative ways to produce Ac-225 are required and our group has focused on a Ra-226(γ,n)Ra-225->Ac-225 reaction with an electron LINAC. In this work, we are going to present a yield simulation of Ac-225, preparation of a Ra-226 target, and a Ra-226 irradiation experiment result at ELPH, Tohoku Univ.
