The decontamination and volume reduction of Cs contaminated soil remains a great challenge after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident. In the present work, the authors studied continuous desorption of radioactive Cs from the actual contaminated soils from Fukushima by the hydrothermal column treatment, coupling with its dynamic analysis of the Cs removal process. The results will inspire new insights for the practical treatment of post-accident soils in Fukushima.
