The generation of radioactive waste is inevitable in the use of nuclear power, and it is required to reduce the load on waste disposal. On the other hand, the basic properties of radioactive waste depend on the specifications of nuclear fuel and its burn-up conditions. In order to reduce the volume and toxicity of radioactive waste in nuclear systems where diversity is expected and required, recommendations from back-end measures based on cross-sectional research that overlooks the entire nuclear fuel cycle, including nuclide separation and fast reactors, are required. The overall research plan will be introduced, paying attention to the relationship between the environmental load of waste disposal and the nuclear fuel cycle conditions.
