[3M14] Relationships between dissolved form and sediment in radiocesium concentrations in the riverwaters in Hamadori, Fukushima
Keywords:rivers, radiocesium, dissolved radiocesium, river sediment
Since the dissolved radiocesium concentration in riverwater is extremely low and tends to decrease over time, it is difficult to quantify. In contrast to the results of Radioactive Material Monitoring by MoE, it is relatively easy to quantify the Cs-137 concentration in sediment. Therefore, if the distribution coefficient (Kd) in Cs-137 in rivers is clear, it may be possible to estimate the dissolved Cs-137 concentration which is difficult to quantify from the Cs-137 concentration in the sediment.
In this study, to calculate the Kd in Cs-137 in between dissolved form and sediment, we conducted sampling of riverwater and sediment in the difficult-return zone and the surrounding area. We will report the relationships between Kd and the characteristics of catchment (landuse).
