Daily load following operation for Molten salt reactor (MSR) was simulated by DYMOS code. It simulates the core by one-point kinetics equations considering the circulation of molten salt and time difference of inlet temperature, also it simulates all plant components including heat exchanger, steam generators and turbine/generators.
The authors have verified DYMOS code for transient results performed at a US experimental reactor MSRE.
Daily load following operation of 100% to 50% (14-1-8-1 hour) for MSR-FUJI is simulated by this code. It is shown that MSR-FUJI can be operated only by changing fuel salt flow rate without control rod motion. Also, xenon poison effect is negligible at MSR-FUJI, and then flow rate change pattern is simple.
