[1D05] Design and study of a test and research reactor with heat pipe cooling system

Test and research reactors are used for various purposes such as human resource development, academic research, and medical isotope production. Currently, many research reactors have been decommissioned or are being decommissioned due to ageing and other reasons. However, there is still a large demand for research reactors that can be used for various purposes. In this study, we designed a medium power heat pipe cooled test reactor that the neutron spectrum can be changed by rearranging the position of fuel rods and the material composition. This makes the reactor can play the role of both a fast reactor and a thermal reactor so that users can obtain the required spectrum. The SCALE code system was used for the analysis.
