It is expected that the future forms of nuclear power utilization will diversify, such as measures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and coexistence with renewable energy. On the other hand, since the generation of radioactive waste in the use of nuclear power is inevitable, it can be said that reducing the load in waste disposal is an ongoing issue. We will introduce an integrated approach to reduce the load of radioactive waste disposal by considering the burn-up characteristics of the nuclear fuel on the front-end, the nuclear fuel cycle conditions, the design of the geological repository, and post-closure/long-term safety assessment.
