In wet environments where α-/β-emitting radionuclides coexist with steel, the local oxidant concentration may be higher than in the conventional environment where only γ-ray irradiation is considered. In this study, hydrogen peroxide is regarded as an oxidant that accelerates corrosion. The corrosion experiments for carbon steels were conducted using hydrogen peroxide concentration as a parameter. This paper described the effects of relatively high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide on corrosion rates and corrosion behaviors of carbon steel.
