Assuming the oxide components in MCCI products, a simulated oxide waste specimen of U-Zr-concrete system was prepared by light-concentrating heating technique in a tungsten crucible. Analysis on the cross-section confirmed that the homogeneous melt formed during heating except for the region near crucible inner surface, and that fine (U,Zr)O2 precipitation occurred in the silicate glass during solidification process.
