Now it is difficult to measure the concentrations of dissolved Cs-137 in river waters due to those low concentrations, while Cs-137 concentrations in river sediments can be detected in many cases. Thus, we have been trying to clarify whether the dissolved Cs-137 concentrations can be estimated by Cs-137 concentrations in river sediments and the distribution coefficient (Kd) between those. The river waters and sediments were collected in the Hamadori area, Fukushima prefecture, and we calculated the Kd values. We evaluate the applicability of this estimation and discuss the possible factors affecting the precision.
