[2G01] Neutronics and Non-proliferation features of Accelerator-Driven System using TRU fuel with separation resistance of an actinide element.
Keywords:Accelerator-Driven System, Accident Tolerant Fuel, Neutronics, Non-proliferation Features
Accelerator-driven System (ADS) uses highly concentrated TRU fuel and a source that generates a huge amount of spallation neutrons. The objectives of this study is to reveal the neutronics and nuclear non-proliferation features of ADS using transuranium (TRU) silicide fuel and high lanthanide-containing nitride fuel. In the neutronics analysis, Serpent2 code is used for the fixed-source core burnup calculation. In the evaluation of nuclear non-proliferation features, Design Information Verification and route analysis are used for considering ADS-specific safeguards approaches, such as prevention of illegal use of ADS facilities. The neutronics characteristics and Material Attractiveness of TRU silicide fuel and high lanthanide-containing nitride fuel were evaluated, and it was revealed the burnup reactivity changes were within the designed subcritical range, and the nuclear non-proliferation features were enhanced in these fuels.
