To develop a principle of simple separation and recovery of uranium in the carbonate reprocessing, a carbonate aqueous solution dissolving UO22+ and a selected reducing agent was irradiated with UV light. As a result, UO22+ was photochemically reduced to efficiently afford black precipitate of UIVO2.
