[2K06] Molecular Design of N,N'-Dialkylated 2,6-Pyridinediamides as Selective and Efficient Extractants for Pd(II) under Strongly Acidic Conditions Simulating HLW

Here, we studied separation of Pd(II) from simulated high-level radioactive waste (HLW) using solvent extraction. Molecular structure of N,N'-dialkylated 2,6-pyridinediamide (DRPDA) was specially designed for selective and efficient extraction of Pd(II) under strongly acidic conditions of HLW. As a result, we have found that the n-hexyl derivative of DRPDA can extract Pd(II) efficiently even under [HNO3] = 0.5-7 M, and that it also shows good separation from Ru(III), Rh(III), La(III) and Lu(III).
