[2K07] Development of uranium separation technique from uranium-bearing wastes of sludge and incinerated ash

*Yoshio Kuno1, Shin-ich Kobayasi1, Keiji Suzuki1, Hideshi Fujinaga1, Shinji Ishimoto2, Ayumi Matsumura2, Ken-ichi Kawamata3, Kazunari Oguchi4, Norimitu Terakado4, Katsunori Sato5 (1. Japan Society of Newer Metals, 2. GNF-J, 3. MNF, 4. NFI, 5. JCO)

Keywords:uranium, radioactive waste, nuclear fuel fabrication facilities, sludge, incinerated ash, leaching tests, nitric acid

Leaching tests were carried out to separate uranium from actual wastes of sludge and incinerated ash stored in nuclear fuel fabrication facilities. The conditions for effective leaching and removal of uranium from the wastes were confirmed using nitric acid as the leaching solution.
