Existing of alpha nuclides has been observed in the contaminated water at Fukushima daiichi nuclear power station. We have investigated a batch type adsorption method for removing alpha nuclides from the contaminated water. In the method, which is different from the conventional adsorption method using vessels for removing cesium and strontium, the powder adsorbent is added to buffer tank and adsorbs alpha nuclides by batch-wise. In this study, the adsorption rate and adsorption isotherm on powder adsorbents were obtained in the batch test using americium, and the size of equipment was evaluated by batch type adsorption calculation.
