(97)Study on the adsorbent optimization for improving MA separation performance by extraction chromatography
Keywords:minor actinides recovery technology, extraction chromatography, the adsorbent support of porous silica , TEHDGA
Separation of minor actinides (MA; Am, Cm) is one of the important issues to reduce the volume of radioactive waste. For the effective MA separation by extraction chromatography, our group focused on the adsorbent support of poly(styrene-divinylbenzene)(St-DVB)-coated porous silica particles (SiO2-P), and revealed that ratio of St-DVB to SiO2 changed the adsorption rate of Eu(III) used as a simulated MA ion. Furthermore, the SiO2-P that was synthesized by loading of reactive species on SiO2 prior to their polymerization (pre-loading method) adsorbed Eu(III) much faster than the previous method. In this study, we report the adsorbent activity of Eu(III) with respect to the impregnation ratio of TEHGDA on SiO2-P prepared by pre-loading method.
